Pastor Michelle Hoverson Takes a Leap of Faith as CoCo Couture’s Top Model

August 21, 2020 — We love celebrating the courageous women in our community. When Pastor Michelle Hoverson had an opening in her busy schedule, we jumped at the chance to invite her to be CoCo Couture’s Top Model of the Week. Being the courageous woman she is, Michelle immediately said ‘yes’ and visited our boutique for a high-fashion styling session.

Michelle is the former pastor at Grace Covenant Church, author of Mentoring Moments with Myself and Executive Director of Above & Beyond Missions Foundation. Above & Beyond helps short-term missionaries earn their mission trip funding by rewarding community service. She also serves women in the community through her Mentoring Moments events hosted on Facebook.

As Michelle says in her book, Mentoring Moments with Myself, “People most often regret the chances they failed to take — not the chances they took and failed.” Based on these photos, we can all agree that Michelle took a chance on CoCo Couture and succeeded beautifully. Here they are:

An Interview With Michelle Hoverson, Author of Mentoring Moments With Myself

What area of Lake Norman do you live in? And are you a North Carolina native?

I currently live in Cornelius. I moved to this area 20 years ago from Washington D.C.

What motivated you to write Mentoring Moments with Myself?

I had two motivations: First, as a guest speaker at Grace Covenant Church, I ended a message by reading a letter to my younger self about taking faith risks. People encouraged me to write additional letters. Second, we live life forward, but we gain perspective and wisdom by looking backwards. Given the season of life I am in, I thought sharing what I’ve learned through my missteps and victories might encourage other women.

What are you passionate about?

Inspiring people to live their most fruitful lives. Being focused on living a fruitful live is completely different from wanting to be successful or accomplished. In one of my letters I say, “Greatness is man’s desire. Fruitfulness is God’s desire for man.” I love to help women find their place of serving because it’s in serving others we become fruitful. During our Mentoring Moments Facebook live events, we say “this mentoring moment is to help you live a fruitful life.” That’s what I’m called to do during this season of my life.
