CoCo Couture Celebrates Models of the Year

May 19, 2021 -- On the evening of May 19th, CoCo Couture hosted an appreciation event for its models who have participated in the boutique's Top Model campaign over the last 12 months. The digital campaign has featured women from the Lake Norman community who represent a variety of industries and professions. Models have included business owners, authors, athletes, non-profit administrators and many others.

Upon reopening in May 2020 after a mandated statewide shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CoCo Couture launched the campaign as a way to revive business, connect with customers on a more personal level and promote the businesses of its customers. By inviting real women to model its apparel and accessories, CoCo Couture channeled an innovative way to showcase the strength, accomplishments and beauty of local area women.

How the Top Model Campaign Works

The CoCo Couture team researches women in the community who have made a name for themselves and invites them to a personal style appointment and photo shoot. During the style appointment, Marketing Manager Kelly Frings helps the model select combinations that suit her style, body type and color preferences. She then photographs the models and publishes the photos on CoCo Couture's blog and social media platforms. Lastly, a blog article is written about the model, highlighting her business, background and achievements.

Since May of 2020, the boutique has featured 62 models on its blog and social media. Past models have included Sharon Washam, The First Lade of Cornelius; NASCAR driver Jennifer Jo Cobb, former Huntersville mayor Jill Swain; and Eileen Stoner, one of Forbes Magazine's Top Women Financial Advisors.

For local women, CoCo Couture's Top Model movement has offered a unique platform on which to express their individuality, promote their brand or business, and have fun with fashion. For CoCo Couture, it has offered an invaluable way to fortify existing customer relationships and build new ones.

Candace Bongiovanni, owner of CoCo Couture, stated "Our social media followers love seeing the photos of recognizable women from the community in beautiful ensembles from our boutique. That recognition alone has been a key contributor in reviving our business during the pandemic. The intent of our Model Appreciation event on May 19th is to celebrate these women and the idea that when we lift each other up, we all win."

Bongiovanni added, "After the photo shoot, our models always comment on how much fun they had and how great they feel. If they end up making a purchase, that's fine. But enabling women to feel confident, beautiful and empowered is our ultimate goal and what we do best."

CoCo Couture would like to recognize and thank its event partners who contributed goods and free giveaways: Brick By Brick Home Inspection, Eterna Aesthetics, Independent Mary Kay Consultant Jean Aswell and Lunalis Cosmetics. CoCo Couture will continue its Top Model campaign throughout 2021. If you would like to participate, please send an email to cococoutureinfo@gmail.com.
