Material Girl??? CoCo Couture talks "GIRL TALK" about what material things are on our 2020 list!

So if we look back to the most popular 80's soundtrack we will most definitely find the top 10 list as one of Madonna's most popular hits....."Material Girl!"  Ohhhh how I have heard that song countless times and what memories that song brings to many!  Do you also find yourself looking at a few of the latest fashion trends and saying..."gosh this was in style way back when and now it's coming back in style?"   From belle bottom jeans, to stirrup pants and over-sized sweaters and leggings....the fashion trends are sure to come back around.  But when is it time to discard those pieces we've held on to that we feel we just can't part with?  Hopefully these top 5 trend setters will help you decide when it's time to take a trip to your local Goodwill with some outdated threads.

1.  Patterns, Metallics, Sequins, Shoulder Pads and Novelty Inspired collections:   We have all bought that must have Chevron patterned Spring Summer Dress that we  felt was the pattern of the season, however, that was a trend that didn't last long.  Chevron patterns have run their course and is in a must discard of mode and should be added to the list of items you are packing for a Goodwill trip.  Shiny metallic along with over sized shoulder pads and bright sparkly sequins were a thing that followed the late 90's trend.  Although metallic leather pants sure looked great with a silk button up blouse, it too must head for the FASHION GRAVE YARD.   And not mention the novelty inspired collections.   There is a reason why multiple people host an UGLY sweater holiday event...so maybe hold on to those ugly novelty sweaters a bit longer....at least 'til the holidays that is!

2.  Collections that just don't fit:  Still think your a size 4 and are way past the "freshmen 15 years?"  It is time to part with those Oh so loved collections that frankly don't fit and will never fit again.  there is nothing worse than pants too tight, too large, too short or too long.  Or that dress that has just tooo much fabric and your body is drowning in layers of polyester!  Come on...let your body breathe!

3.  OK...here's one that is really going to hit home for many!  How about age appropriate collections?  So you are peaking your fabulous 40's and are still holding on to that section of your closet that screams "Girl's Nite Out"  Seriously...your married with 3 kids and that XS black Spandex little black dress is not on your wardrobe must have's anymore.  This is not the option of..."less is better."  Be a class act and go with a modest silk blouse paired with a soft printed trouser and event pair with an open toe heel in a solid nude or black.   If you want to add a little pizzazz to your collection, add a signature leather #FrankLyman jacket to your ensemble with a chunky #FrenchKande signature piece.  Now that is a statement piece that is sure to never go out dated!

4.  Venue appropriate attire.  Going to see Michael Buble` in concert in downtown Manhattan and dinner before at NOBU?  Then a formal velvet one shoulder Givenchy dress is probably not the wardrobe choice for this venue.  Dress appropriate for the occasion but not too under or over dressed!  Frank Lyman once quoted..."Everyday is like a fashion show...this is your wardrobe so wear it well"     Your wardrobe is a portrait of your personality and should compliment your style and poise.

5.  Missing Parts?  You have held on to that gorgeous, heart throbbing GUCCI blazer that once came with signature logo buttons (6 of course) and you are now missing half of them and can't find it in your heart to part with this completed worn out designer find.  It too...must go!  Some things just run their course and all good things must come to an end.

Here's a little sneak peek of some "must have's" for Spring 2020.......I think these beauties will be around for a while!      Until next time..........XOXO        Candace
