SEPTEMBER: WHAT TO WEAR?
Yes, for some, Labor Day signals the end of summer; time to bring out colder-weather clothing. Think black, brown, orange - the colors of fall.
But the reality is: it stays pretty warm around here for most of the month! In fact the latest forecast for the first week of September calls for temperatures to reach highs of 90 degrees in the Charlotte area! Daytime temperatures cool slightly as the month goes on, but the real difference comes at night: the average night-time temperature is expected to hover around the mid-50s by the end of the month!
So it's often a difficult month to figure out what to wear. Things stay warm in the daytime, but cool off later in the day. And on top of that, many of us, psychologically, just aren't ready for darker, warmer clothing.
Yes we may want to think twice about wearing that thin cotton tee or the gauzy "boho" top with the braids. Instead, try some colorful alternatives! Keep those browns and oranges on the hanger for a while longer! And wear fabrics that are just slightly heavier in weight, to ward off any cooling temps.
Gretchen Scott, one of CoCo Couture's favorite designers, has a fabulous red/blue jersey dress that'll work well when worn on a warm September day into the cooler evening hours. It has three-quarter length sleeves, a mandarin collar, and is made of polyester and elastane, making it the perfect wrinkle-free solution for day-into-night wear! It's part of Gretchen's "jersey" collection, which means that it's a great, medium-weight fabric that has a fabulous fit and is super comfy.
